Terms of use

These terms apply to the Fermata app and the website at usefermata.com. By using either, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Who can use Fermata

You need to be at least 18. Fermata is currently invite-only: joining the waitlist doesn't guarantee an invite, and we decide when to let people in.

2. Using Fermata

Fermata is a personal productivity tool. You're responsible for how you use it, including staying aware of your surroundings while you travel. Don't rely on it for anything safety-critical.

3. Blocking is best effort

App blocking uses Apple's Screen Time and depends on iOS. Blocks may not apply in every situation, and some apps or system features can't be blocked. You can always end a focus session, and Fermata tries to remove blocks when a session ends, but we can't guarantee either in every case.

4. Location is approximate

Arrival and departure detection depends on your iPhone and can be late, early or missed.

5. Your account

Keep your sign-in secure; you're responsible for what happens with your account. Your username must not impersonate anyone or be offensive. You can delete your account at any time in the app.

6. Invites, friends and conduct

Invites are personal: don't sell them or trade them. Be decent to the people you connect with. Don't use Fermata to harass anyone, spam, get around its limits, or interfere with the service. We may remove content, usernames or accounts that break these rules.

7. Your content

Your places, tasks and history stay on your device and belong to you. You're responsible for anything you share with friends, such as your name and photo, and you give us permission to show it to them for the service to work.

8. Paid features

If we add paid features, purchases, renewals and cancellations will go through your Apple ID under Apple's terms, and we'll tell you the price before you buy.

9. Changes and availability

Fermata is under active development. We may change, pause or discontinue features, or the service as a whole. We'll post material changes to these terms here and update the date above; continuing to use Fermata means you accept them.

10. No warranty

Fermata is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for missed tasks, reminders or blocks. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.

12. Ending

You can stop using Fermata and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms.
